Just received the AR 80% lower, very nice. Looks like good instructions and quality tools. Could you please post the exact dimensions for the fire control pocket? or at least the exact depth? I’m guessing 1.25 for the FCP depth but I’d like to be sure. Thanks.

Received my 2 units the other day, finished one of them and I must say this is a first-class product – well worth the wait.
I give it high marks for design, implementation and function – right down to the packaging.

Will definitely be ordering more in support of this awesome company.

Would love to see them molded in colors one day

Just got mine today and I can’t wait to start the assembly process. This is my first time building my own AR so I am looking forward to any how-to videos and instructions.
Is a drill press better than a router for the polymer lower?

I decided to use this product as my first build, its a pretty cool jig, packaging and lower design, but I was under the impression I could convert to a 5.56 format. Being that I’m building on a budget I had to make some adjustments on the bottom trigger hole, and safety. I am having a small problem with the pistal grip I purchased not being compatable but I’ll figure it out. All in all its a pretty good lower. If any one has any suggestions about parts or more to assist me with my build please feel free to comment.

I milled out my polymer lower this weekend and posted a video of the process. There are a few things I have concerns with regarding this lower but I am also learning as I go with this process. I am sure I made a few mistakes, but hopefully nothing so bad that I cannot fix it later. I hope the video will help other novices like me. https://youtu.be/leCCZx9WgVc

Thanks for posting a video of you completing your lower. It looks like you completed your first build on your first try…Good Job!

A couple comments to make your next build easier:

      1. The jig is designed to be held in vice.
      2. The end mill is not designed for plunging. Plunge with the 3/8 drill provided to get close to your depth, then use the 7/16 end mill for final completion.
      3. Fire Control Pocket depth on the AR-15 Lower Receiver is 1.25″ from top of deck. Step down slowly, measuring as you go…as the lower is designed, you do not have room for error in this area.
      4. The Ejector Pin Circle can be removed easily with 5 minutes as the comment in the Youtube video states by using a bead blaster or even sand paper and emery cloth.

Once again, Great Job on your first Build!

We will be posting another video shortly.

Design is stiff. Way stiffer than the polymer80 I also have. However found out magpul pmags don’t fit because of the trigger guard design in front. The pmag design hits the squared trigger guard preventing full insertion of the magazine.

    :

rmmandilag – I had the same issue, but only with the M3 PMAG’s. I just removed the bump on the PMAG as it isn’t actually needed. The magazine catch is what catches and supports the magazine, not that stupid little bump. All my Gen 1 and 2 PMAG’s and all my metal magazines work just fine as is.

I’ve been looking at several lowers. After watching that guys video from the motorcycle shop, it looks so easy. Thanks for such a great video!! The best I’ve seen. I’ll be ordering my lowers from you guys because you took the time to make it.

The receiver itself seems to be very well built. It mated to my RRA upper very nicely except for it being a little loose in the takedown pin area. My only complaint is the jig. It feels very cheep and can make finishing the receiver difficult. Shipping was great. Ordered on a Sunday, it shipped Monday, and I received it that Wednesday. All in all, it is a very good product and I would purchase another. Especially if you can catch it on sale.

Great to here you are completing your build! We will be making further improvements to our Jig to ensure it is as sturdy as it can be for the machining ops.

This lower won’t allow use of a 10 round Magpul magazine. The trigger guard gets in the way. It’s nice and rigid. I like the brass insert.

Shipping was delayed on my order for some reason or another. Contacted the company via email and they made it right. Purchased 4 of these lowers on a flash sale. Looking forward to getting them on the mill. Quality appears to be solid.

This is my second purchase Love the first one i had to do filing and shave some of the plastic down to make the upper fit but by doing that there was no movement with the upper even with the mistakes i made it still work loved it I bought two more practice makes perfect!!!

Just ordered one. Can you use a standard lower parts kit or do you need special size take down Pins??

    • admin

      (verified owner):

Dan – Standard LPK will work with the exception of the Rear take-down pin. It takes a specialized rear take-down pin which we provide in our kit.

This is my final input. Anyone having pistol grip issues, I was able to go to hardware store and purchase machine screw #8-32×3/4″ you can trim down to 1.5mm and resolve the short pistol grip screw. Space Cadet me tried reaching Genesis electronically but no luck. I’m going to mickey mouse take down screw and flatten round edge facing the cut out in screw to custom fit the screw. This 80 % is otherwise great and if you mess up you may be able to save it by using epoxy, The price is right and design in extra support and brass insert is beautiful plus you can add your own graphic designs by cutting your design on paper and cutting to size, tape it on your lower and with a nail or dentist pick print dots to your lower thru your home made stencil. GOD bless you all and DO NOT STAND DOWN !!!

Just finished my first build using the Polymer 80% kit. I’ve made all the rookie mistakes, so will just make a couple notes here for those considering doing it themselves.
    1. Don’t be afraid to try this. It really isn’t that difficult. You will need PATIENCE. You Should Have an X-Y Vise for your drill press.
    2. WATCH YOUR DEPTH. On mine, the mill bit loosened without my noticing, and popped a hole through right in front of the trigger hole. JB Quick took care of the issue, and I simply remilled the area. All is well.

A couple questions that other builders might be able to answer:
    1. Can I REALLY torque the Buttstock Nut to 35 ft lbs like the AR-15 Specs say? When I tightened, I went only as far as I could before I saw the lower flexing… I don’t know what the torque was, but the nut seemed tight enough.
    2. A very finely threaded shaft with a screwdriver slot at the top was included in the kit. I’m assuming that this could go inside the Bolt Release Roll Pin and reach the other side of the Boss – – -? I used a punch to drive the roll pin all the way across, knowing that removing it might be a hassle if I ever need to. Was this Genesis’ solution for the re-inforced material around the Bolt Release Boss?

All that said, I am really looking forward to my second build using this lower. Once I get a suitable Upper Build done, I’ll report back on overall performance.

My first 80% lower build. I’ve assembled many an AR but not ever an 80% lower . This lower and company is outstanding. Pinned it to my 300 blackout upper, built by me … It looks , functions and performs great. I made a few mistakes but nothing I couldn’t fix. I wanted to get a poly first as I’m going to try my luck with an aluminum 80% next. I had to make a few little tweaks to make everything line up but overall this kit is awesome. I live on the east coast, had this in 2 days…. I just seen they are 49.99 , I’ll for sure get at least one more of these, if not more…. Great product, great people, great shipping . All I can say is OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!!! Thank you , God bless the USA

Ordered on Sunday. Received on Wednesday. Milled out today, Saturday, on a drill press with a sliding x-y vise. The whole process was quite easy and the result is as nice of a polymer lower that I have ever seen. It is very strong and doesn’t deflect appreciably in any area. All of the lower parts fit and function correctly. The lower mates with my upper solidly. I will be purchasing more. Thank you, Genesis!!

I have two friends with Polymer 80’s, and my father in law has the EP Armory…The Genesis is by far superior! Easy to machine, and looks nice!! Best quality and best price on the market!!!! The only issue that I had was that the takedown pin would not retract all the way, I had to do some grinding on the end. Other than that, no complaints! First class company and product!! Fast shipping, easy transaction! Thank you, just bought my third!!!

Fantastic kit very easy to finish ( a chimp could do it) ,my only issue is the rear pin ,I used a dremal an diamond bits to fix mine ,friends will order once the pin issue is addressed ,I’ve tried to contact Genesis about this an was told they were waiting on a new run well it’s been a month and? This could be a deal breaker for some, but it’s a great kit simple to finish an with over 1000 rounds through it I’m very pleased but the darn pin bugs me ! I will an do recommend this lower kit
