Threats to the Second Amendment are commonplace these days, they happen so often and come from so many directions that most of us consider them as regular as the sunrise. It seems like every time we defeat one attack on our firearms, another three appear, but we keep fighting.
This new threat is also an old and ongoing threat, but now could possibly become something even more dangerous than rust.
We have heard it a thousand times, they don’t want to take our guns away, they just want everyone to be safer. The President himself said, “…I respect the Second Amendment, I respect the right to bear arms. I respect people who want a gun for self-protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship.”
I do not think there is any way I could have actually live blogged this event as a few friends had actually suggested I do. First, I simply do not type fast enough and second, I was too busy gagging on the whole “both sides will be represented” concept as CNN proclaimed to really write a cohesive sentence.
President Obama has released his four section list of Executive Actions to curb gun violence. The risk of being shot by an Islamic terrorist or mentally ill liberal has not changed one bit because of them. In fact, most of what is proposed solves problems that do not really exist or that have been abused by criminals.
It is the start of a new year, that means a fresh start for many, but if you are a gun owner, it means a whole new set of rules and attacks on our Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Your Guns May Be Restrained
California leads the way as usual with one of the scariest and most dangerous laws concerning firearms that is sure to be abused, Assembly Bill 1014; the gun violence restraining order. With this law, your Second Amendment right can be taken away by a judge for 21 days without being found guilty of any crime.
